Validation of the content of a guide on food introduction in Speech Therapy

Introduction: Nutrition plays a crucial role in human development, especially in the early stages of life, accounting for 90% of brain connections. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, followed by a gradual introduction of complementary foods until the age of two, aiming to guarantee the healthy development of children, with Speech Therapy being essential in this process. Objective: Validate the content of a food introduction guide from the perspective of Speech Therapy. Methods: The development was carried out in three stages: Study Design, Material Formulation and Semantic Adequacy of Items (Content Validation). Five speech therapists with experience in this topic participated as judges, who responded to an evaluation script electronically. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was used to validate the instrument. Results: For all items evaluated, a minimum CVI value of 0.80 (80%) was found, that is, agreement from at least four of the five judges. The final instrument has 56 pages, divided into topics and subtopics relevant to the theme using images as visual support. Conclusion: The results demonstrated the adequacy of the content to the scientific validation criteria, evidenced by the IVC, indicating that the guide has sufficient foundations to be used as a resource for educational practices on food introduction for caregivers of children.
